Returning to Lough Neagh July 2026

Soooo…it’s been a while!!!

Just to finish off from my last post, I had two solo shows last year and managed to finish off the body of work, Uisce Salach (Dirty Water) and Dríodar (Sediment)in time!!! All the updates are on my Instagram page and apologies for missing in action but I took a bit of time off to re-charge and re-set.

Earlier this year I visited Lough Neagh to collect water samples as part of ongoing research into freshwater ecologies and environmental change. At that time the water was clear, with little visible activity at the shoreline.

Returning today to the same stretch of water, the difference was immediate. Thick dark green algal matter had gathered at the edge, forming dense surface residue and carrying a strong organic smell. I collected samples from both the water and the algae on the shoreline for microscopic examination.

What interests me is this visible shift — how quickly a body of water can change, and what might be happening beneath the surface. These samples will form the starting point for further microscopic study and material responses in the studio.
